‘57 Mercury WASTED in only 3 years
In 1957 my grandparents bought a new Mercury. It was a two toned beauty, white with turquoise! They drove that car with pride. Because they were just starting out and raising children, they didn’t have time or they just didn’t know that the car needed to be maintained. They did not do the regular maintenance on the car. So after just three years, the car couldn’t run efficiently at all. In fact, the car blew the rings, burned oil and had smog coming out in a cloud every time they drove it. The gas mileage was so bad they were putting twice as much gas in the tank. It was beyond a simple fix. They couldn’t afford to buy another car right away but fixing the car would cost more than a new one because they voided their warranty by not keeping the car maintained. Finally, they had no choice, but to buy a new car. Looking back, it would have been better for them to educate themselves on the importance of taking care of a car.
